Amarillo Alumnae Chapter History

Local Theta alumnae established the Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae Club in the 1940's. Our charter as Amarillo Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta was granted February 15, 1963. Our Chapter is nationally recognized as a very philanthropic Theta alumnae group with a long standing tradition of excellence. We currently have 32 dues-paying members.

In 1996, the Kappa Alpha Theta Amarillo Alumnae Chapter was recognized as the "Most Improved Alumnae Chapter" at Grand convention in Asheville, NC. In 2002, our Chapter received a national award at Grand Convention, held in Orlando, FL.

The Kappa Alpha Theta Amarillo Alumnae Chapter Scholarship was established in 1991. The scholarship is dedicated to providing greater access to educational opportunities. The mission of the Kappa Alpha Theta Scholarship is to help women who plan to re-enter the work force by helping them receive a college education. The Kappa Alpha Theta Scholarship is managed by the Amarillo College Foundation. Through our generous support of our philanthropic efforts through our annual pansy sale, we are able to grant scholarships to Amarillo College students.

Since 1986, the Amarillo Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta has donated more than $57,500 to local, national and Kappa Alpha Theta charities.
